چکیده

Age-standardized rates (ASRs; using 1985 Japanese standard population) for Breast cancer mortality for 1960–2000 are shown for Japan, the USA, the UK, France and Italy (Fig. 1). Over this period, ASRs of breast cancer among women from the USA, the UK, France and Italy decreased following the peak around 1990. ASRs for Japanese women were much lower than those observed among women in the USA, the UK, France and Italy. However, ASRs in Japan increased constantly from 1960 to 2000 and the difference in ASRs between Japan and the other four countries has recently become smaller. Mortality trends for breast cancer by age group are shown according to the year of death (Fig. 2). The trends in the mortality rate in the USA and the UK reached a peak around 1990 and then started to decrease gradually. Recently, decreasing trends of mortality have been clearly observed among younger age groups in the USA, the UK and Italy. In France, increasing trends of mortality are shown among younger age groups. Mortality in Japan was lower than in the other four countries from 1960 to 2000. The increasing trend in mortality was observed irrespective of age group, and the differences between age groups in Japan were small. Mortality trends of breast cancer by age group are shown according to the year of birth in Fig. 3. In the USA and the UK there was no consistent peak of breast cancer mortality for any particular birth cohort, which means the effect corresponded to calendar year rather than birth cohort.

Morbidity and mortality from cancer in Hong Kong--the last 20 years.

"Cancer continued to be the top killer in Hong Kong during the past two decades. This article describes the growing trend in cancer morbidity and mortality during the period." Data are included on changes in patterns by age, sex, and cancer site over time.

Data on the distribution of cancer incidence and death across age and sex groups visualized using multilevel spie charts.

Cancer incidence and death statistics are typically recorded for multiple age and sex brackets, leading to large data tables which are difficult to digest. Effective visualizations of this data would allow practitioners, policy makers, and the general public to comprehend the data more readily and act on it appropriately. We introduce multilevel spie charts to create a combined visualization of...

A Continuous Optimization Model for Partial Digest Problem

The pupose of this paper is modeling of Partial Digest Problem (PDP) as a mathematical programming problem. In this paper we present a new viewpoint of PDP. We formulate the PDP as a continuous optimization problem and develope a method to solve this problem. Finally we constract a linear programming model for the problem with an additional constraint. This later model can be solved by the simp...

Modeling of Partial Digest Problem as a Network flows problem

Restriction Site Mapping is one of the interesting tasks in Computational Biology. A DNA strand can be thought of as a string on the letters A, T, C, and G. When a particular restriction enzyme is added to a DNA solution, the DNA is cut at particular restriction sites. The goal of the restriction site mapping is to determine the location of every site for a given enzyme. In partial digest metho...

Sequence Assembly Validation by Restriction Digest Fingerprint Comparison

DNA sequence analysis depends on the accurate assembly of fragment reads for the determination of a consensus sequence. Genomic sequences frequently contain repeat elements that may confound the fragment assembly process, and errors in fragment assembly, and errors in fragment assembly may seriously impact the biological interpretation of the sequence data. Validating the fidelity of sequence a...
